Builds & Playstyles

Classes

Six classes are confirmed for launch, each with two distinct weapon stances you can swap between mid-fight.

Class names and playstyle notes below are drawn from beta testing and are subject to change before full launch. We'll update this page as Bellring Games shares more official detail.

Withered Knight

A heavy melee frontline class built around durability and control, wielding a two-handed greatsword. Good pick if you want to plant yourself in a fight and outlast the other side rather than out-maneuver them.

Black Arrow

A ranged class armed with a bow, specializing in burst damage and area denial — bleed and area-control arrows show up often in beta feedback as strong tools.

Shadowstrix

An agile assassin-style class dual-wielding swords for rapid combo attacks, with a dagger for stealth and closing distance fast. Beta players frequently flag this as one of the strongest duelist picks in the current build.

Mercenary

A versatile melee class switching between a hammer and a sword-and-shield, balancing offense and survivability without leaning hard into either extreme — a solid generalist pick.

Sorcerer

A ranged spellcaster using barriers, freezes, and burns to control fights from range. A strong pick if you'd rather out-position enemies than trade hits directly.

Seer

The support class, playable through two distinct paths: a Reverent build leaning into runic constructs, shields and heals, or a more aggressive path mixing melee strikes with burst magic. Some beta feedback has flagged the pure-healer playstyle as feeling restrictive — worth watching for changes closer to launch.

Weapon Stances & Endgame Weapons

Each class is locked into a specific weapon set, and swapping between a class's two stances mid-fight is core to how combat flows — a Mercenary switching from hammer to sword-and-shield, for instance, changes both pace and role in a fight. On top of that, an endgame "holy weapon" tier is planned as a further upgrade path, dropping from map bosses rather than found in normal loot — early examples referenced by the community include named boss-drop weapons tied to specific late-game encounters. Exact drop sources and stats aren't locked in yet, so treat the holy weapon tier as a confirmed system with details still to be finalized.

Choosing a Class

If you're deciding what to main, a few starting points from beta impressions: Withered Knight and Mercenary are considered good, forgiving entry points for players newer to soulslike combat. Black Arrow and Shadowstrix reward more precise, aggressive play. Sorcerer offers safe damage from range with strong self-sustain. Seer is the pick if you'd rather support a squad than lead a fight.
