Beta Notes & Known Issues
A running summary of what players have reported during Mistfall Hunter's beta tests. These are community observations, not official statements from Bellring Games.
Frequently Reported Issues
- Performance & stuttering: Multiple players report frame drops and periodic stutter, even on high-end hardware, particularly when loading new areas or turning the camera quickly.
- No duo queue: The most requested feature by a wide margin. Squads are currently locked to solo or 3-player trios, with no official duo matchmaking option, which two-player groups have flagged as a significant disadvantage.
- Bot prevalence: Some players report frequent AI-controlled opponents in matches, especially after early deaths, and would prefer an option to play only against real players.
- Crafting timers: Crafting higher-rarity gear can take a long time in the current build (reports of up to ~20 hours for a purple-quality item), which some players feel discourages experimentation with builds.
- Class balance: Feedback frequently singles out fast, high-mobility classes as overtuned relative to slower or more defensive picks, and support-oriented builds as feeling restrictive.
- UI/UX rough edges: Reports include being unable to freely swap loadout skills without visiting a specific area, and unclear gear-comparison tools while looting.
- Network infrastructure strain: During the final week-long test ahead of launch, players reported mixed experiences tied to overloaded network infrastructure on the publisher's side. Bellring Games has said it's not delaying the release over this and is continuing to work on performance across post-launch updates.
What Bellring Games Has Committed To Post-Launch
Beyond bug fixes, the studio has confirmed a few concrete process commitments: patch notes, including balance changes, will be shared on Discord in addition to in-game notifications, and a new roadmap will be published toward the end of each season so players know what's coming next.
Bugs Bellring Games Has Acknowledged
Unlike most items on this page, these aren't just community reports — Bellring Games directly addressed them in an official Q&A:
- Frame generation freeze: the studio confirmed a bug where enabling frame generation can cause the game to freeze, and said it's actively working on a fix.
- Accessory disconnection bug: a separate bug tied to certain accessory items causing disconnects has also been acknowledged, with the studio saying it's investigating compensation for affected players.
Critical Reception So Far
Early previews and beta coverage have been notably positive — outlets covering the June open beta and Steam Next Fest generally praised the combat feel and the fusion of soulslike combat with extraction mechanics, and the beta reportedly ranked among Steam Next Fest's top demos. That said, this reflects press and enthusiast preview coverage, not a broad critical consensus — no aggregate review score exists yet since the game hasn't fully released.
What Players Are Enjoying
- The core combat loop and risk/reward of extraction is frequently cited as the game's strongest hook.
- Class variety and the two-stance weapon system are seen as a meaningful point of difference from other extraction games.
- The dark fantasy art direction and setting land well with players coming from souls-like and extraction-shooter backgrounds.
